July 2010 and its July 2024 - that would count as fourteen years and in spiritual world, two energy cycles. From being unable to sleep, waiting for sunrise that I could take the bike out for a ride to months at stretch where riding would not even occur in my thoughts - I rode the complete sine wave.
Rode a lot with Malvinder, to the extent that the duo of black and silver street glides were a part of lore among old HOG’s. Ever since Novemeber 2022 - my last ride with Malvinder, the road and the feel were just not the same for me anymore. I did try a few long ones (Gwalior, Agra, Lucknow, Ajmer) on my own, but it just wasn't the same as solo rides used to be back in the day. To add insult to the injury - twice I was made to return from expressways to my utter disappointment and disgrace, since the new norm states that two wheelers can no longer ply on these beautiful state of the art highways. One wonders - then whats the point !
I will not say that I took the call with a heavy heart - no I did not - I chose to let go of my machine for I no longer felt that fire to take it out for a zip-zap or a long tourney through the country. Having customised it to my needs, there was no point in seeing it going into a state of disrepair for lack of use - particularly knowing, that I cannot be pressured to do something that I did not wish to.
Navdeep Sidhu - with whom I have shared this journey, coincidentally has the same entry exit timelines as mine. When he gave me delivery of my first Harley - a Fatboy in 2010, he had joined the Chandigarh dealership and now that I have sold my last, he too has made his exit from the dealership for good. All three bikes - Fatboy, Breakout and Street Glide - were delivered by him and last one sold too through him. Thank you Navdeep for the company - it was a great ride.
So yeah to sum it all - thank you life for these experiences, the good times and the memories - a wall at my place is testament to this journey. Thank You.
Let's see whats next.
