Thundering Eagles

Sound of a machine can be a major factor when it comes to making a decision. The said thought can easily be marked as the underlying force for contents of this post.

A fortnight back four of us went on grub ride to Kiarighat. Malvinder and I were riding for the first time with a new fella Amrinder, with Navdeep accompanying. Now its a fact among us that Melvin's pipes are loud, but none so far had the drive to do something about it. In comes Amrinder.

Amrinder's sadness over his bike's sound (compared to Melvin's) grew as the day progressed, such that, he compared his FATBOY to a LUNA when it came in front of Intruder 1800R. Something serious had to be done. Finishing the ride, all four of us ended up at Melvin's place for he is the tool man. I volunteered my bike for experimentation. The target - remove baffle of pipes. An hour into the job, and day closing on we managed to take off the screaming eagle slipons. My FATBOY, now had just the short shots and it sounded preposterous a.k.a satisfying. Any comparison to any form of tractor, was futile. Day called off, we now had our answer for Melvin.

The discovery not being enough for Amrinder, he couldn't sleep back home and got working on bike at night. Removed the baffles himself and gave us tips next morning. UP the spirit Amrinder. Tuesday evening, we had two FATBOY's with home-made THUNDERING EAGLES, and very next day added Navdeep's 1200 sportster to brotherhood.

Its a different feel to FATBOY's ride, with thump being felt in very millimeter of the bike. Another step, towards integration of MAN and his MACHINE.

Cheers Amrinder!
